Τελικά για την ώρα μόνο το iPad αξίζει, αλλά κοστίζει το άτιμο...

Επειδή μάλλον δεν τα ξέρεις καλά,

1. το KF δεν πάει να χτυπήσει το iPad. Δεν διαθέτει bluetooth, gps, κλπ κλπ. Δεν είναι πλήρες tablet.
2. το παραπάνω άρθρο λέει πιπεριές χωρίς να αναφέρει τις πηγές του. Τα όποια "προβλήματα" που αναφέρει (αν ισχύουν) μπορούν να διορθωθούν με ένα απλό firmware update.
3. το KF πήγε πολύ καλά σε πωλήσεις τα Χριστούγεννα, γίνεται root, μπαίνει Android Market και η κοινότητα των modders το έχει αγκαλιάσει. Δεν βλέπω ότι έχει αποτύχει όπως λέει το άρθρο.
4. το iPad είναι iShit, ενώ υπάρχουν σωρία από διπύρηνα Android tablets που κάνουν περισσότερα πράγματα στα ίδια λεφτά. Με 1ο και καλύτερο το Asus Transformer Prime. Είναι και με 5 πυρήνες και με μεγαλύτερη, φωτεινότερη οθόνη και ανάλυση και λεπτότερο και φθηνότερο.


PS. Lenovo IdeaPad K1 10.1 inch Tablet (NVIDIA TEGRA 2, 1Gb RAM, 32Gb Storage, WLAN, Android 3.1) ~> £319.99 = €390

Για το KF νομίζω τα είπε όλα ο Erebos.Σχετικά με το ipad μπορώ να αριθμήσω 10+ tablets που το υπερνικούν και στις δυνατότητες και στην τιμή.Και μακριά από το ios με τα κλειδώματα και τους περιορισμούς,android που είναι ανοιχτό λογισμικό και εκμεταλλευόμαστε τις συσκευές μας όπως γουστάρουμε.Ευτυχώς φαίνεται πως οι καταναλωτές έχουν ξυπνήσει και το android εξελίσσεται ταχύτατα αφήνοντας την apple να κερδίζει μόνο στον αριθμό των εφαρμογών που προσφέρει στο μάρκετ(και αυτό για πόσο...).

So you want to buy a record player? GET OUT. So you want to buy a turntable? That's great, this thread will serve the purpose of being the sole source (on what.cd) to ask any questions you have about them and what you will need.


Sites for information (I'll add more as time goes on):
1) vinylengine This site I post everywhere, it has specs for most turntables and cartridges, protractors, and some really cool tools to calculate anything and everything.


What you will need:
Turntable with a tonearm
Cartridge attached to this tonearm
A phono preamp aka phono-stage, these can be separate or built into a receiver.
Amplification to speakers or headphones
...speakers or headphones.

Types of turntables that matter: Belt & Direct Drive (DD)
All turntables use a bearing and spindle, there are many different types and you can research that on your own if you want. They also all have a platter (the big rotating circle thing you set your record on) motor, and a plinth (the piece of X material that everything sits on with feet on the bottom).

Belt drive turntables use a belt attached to the motor to drive either a platter or a sub-platter that is coupled to the platter. The two biggest philosophies here are heavy mass vs rigid yet light components. Rega is an example of the latter and VPI or Nottingham Spacedecks are an example of the former.

With direct drive turntables, the motor sits below the platter and spins it directly. Technics is the big name here, though JVC, Kenwood and a few others also made great DD turntables.

Tonearms are included with many turntables today and are normally either straight or S shaped, unipivot or gimbal bearings and each have their own ideas as to which is better and such. Again, if you want to get into it, use google.

Money
You're going to spend it. Either on components for the setup or on records to listen to. If you are planning on spending as little as possible to just listen, have a look at this list head-fi budget TT thread. If you aren't on that tight of a budget, there's plenty of options in a lot of price ranges.

Under $400USD?
In my opinion? Go used, audiogon is your best friend, ebay etc. Look for ones on the list above ask questions on ones you can't find a lot of information about and as time passes, read through/search this thread for posts concerning turntables you may be interested in. Other options are the ever so popular Pro-Ject Debut III and the Rega P1, that's really it new.

Anything more than ~$400:
Definitely deserves you taking the time to post and read a lot.

Cartridges
The most popular is the 1/2-inch cart, if you have wires that connect to your tonearm, you have a 1/2-inch. If you do not, it's a P-mount and is tougher to shop for. The biggest ideas here are MM(moving magnet)/MI(moving iron) and MC(moving coil). MM/MI are grouped because they normally have higher outputs than MC carts and therefore do not require a great deal of amplification (less money on a phono-stage) snobbier audiophiles will look down on MMs but they are great for the money and can blow out some MCs if done right. MC carts come in High or Low Output (HO/LO), the most common is LO and are generally the most expensive out there. They do manufacture HOMC carts for use with the MM input on a phono-stage, giving you a taste of MC sound with the price of an MM cart. Really the best move here (if you are replacing/upgrading/just plain buying) a cart is to determine what kind of sound you like to hear. Cartridges have the biggest influence on what you hear from the recording, reading reviews and opinions posted by other people is a great way to narrow down what you want from the vast amount of options at each price level.

The main parts of a cartridge are:

Ones that will be talked about a lot are the cantilever, the diamond(stylus) and the body. The cantilever's main job is to be very rigid and hold the diamond in place as it plays the grooves, can range from aluminum to boron to even ruby and diamond. The stylus is a carved diamond that has different profiles, the most common being conical(dated), elliptical, line contact and shibata. The better ones are "nude", "Nude stylus:directly glued(tip) on the cantilever,instead on an intermediate(usually metal)base between tip and cantilever."

A big issue here is tonearm resonance with your cartridge. Factors the come into play are the effective mass of your tonearm, weight of the cartridge and the cartridge's compliance, use this charter to plug in your number awesome vinylengine tool, seriously this site is so cool

Come into buying a cart with your mind made up of what qualities you want to hear in what you listen to a price range and compatibility with your tonearm.

Phono-stages
As records are cut from the lathe, they shrink the bass to allow more information per side. How we get this back is through the RIAA EQ and amplification of a phono-stage. These are rated by how close they follow the RIAA curve, distortion and dB increase/gain. Great "budget" stand-alones are the Cambridge 640p, the Musical Fidelity V-LPS, the TCC series and a few others.

Εεεε γι αυτό έβαλα το ''ελληνικό'' σε εισαγωγικά. Εντάξει ρε συ,δεν είναι τόσα πολλά τα 250 ευρώ,προσιτό είναι για τις δυνατότητές του.Σίγουρα υπάρχουν πολλές καλές επιλογές σε αυτά τα χρήματα(όπως το hp touchpad ή το galaxy player 5''-που είναι στα 200- κ.α),αλλά οκ δεν είναι τόσο τραγικό.

Mέσα σε έναν χρόνο περίμενα περισσότερα από την google αλλά ίσως να είναι σωστή κίνηση η συγκεκριμένη έκδοση για να μην δημιουργηθεί κατακερματισμός εκδόσεων όπως είχε πάθει η microsoft στο παρελθόν.

Τί παραπάνω περίμενες δλδ?? Ήδη μέσα σε ένα χρόνο παρουσίασε 2 μεγάλα updates (ICS, JB) με περισσότερα νέα features από κάθε άλλη έκδοση.

Περίμενα πολλά περισσότερα από την 4.1.Η jb δεν φαίνεται να έχει ιδιαίτερες αλλαγές,όπως αυτές που έφερε η ics.Anyway,καλύτερα διότι θα γεμίσουμε συσκευές με διαφορετικές εκδόσεις που θα φέρει πονοκεφάλους για το μέλλον του λειτουργικού.

Κάπου διάβασα ότι θα υποστηρίζει και video-out microUSB-to-HDMI (rooted πάντα).
