Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya (25) and actress Mao Inoue (22) will co-star in a drama special on TBS. The story is based on two novels written by professional windsurfer Natsuki Iijima, who died of cancer in 2005.

During Iijima's battle with cancer, he wrote an essay titled "Gan ni Ikasarete," which formed part of the basis for the 2007 film "Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara," a biography of Iijima that starred Takao Osawa and Misaki Ito. Around the same time, Iijima penned a novel also titled "Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara," as well as a sequel titled "Kamisama ga Kureta Namida." The drama special is based on those two books, which sold more than 450,000 copies combined.

The drama is also being called "Tengoku de Kimi ni Aetara." Ninomiya plays the main character, a psychiatrist working in the counseling room of a cancer treatment center by the beach. While tending to the patients, part of his job involves taking dictation from them when they want to send a letter to a loved one.

Inoue plays the psychiatrist's wife and mother to the couple's twin daughters. Other cast members include Nobuko Miyamoto as a nurse, Yusuke Santamaria as a surgeon, and Naoto Ogata as the owner of a surf shop.

The broadcast date for the drama has not yet been determined.

The popular Fuji TV drama series "LIAR GAME" is coming back with a second season and a theatrical film. Based on a manga by Shinobu Kaitani, the show originally aired in 2007 and drew very strong ratings for its late-night time slot.

The psychological thriller starred rising youngsters Erika Toda (20) and Shota Matsuda (23). They will of course reprise their roles in the new productions. So far, the expected dates for the second season and the movie have not yet been decided.

On Thursday, Fuji TV launched a mobile-only site called Liar Game Project (LGP) that deals with the manga, drama, and the movie. Those who register can receive more information, and they will also be able to participate in a new "game" related to the story.

Βασικά θα είναι και τα 2. Και ταινία και σειρά. Τώρα βέβαια δεν ξέρω αν θα πραγματεύονται διαφορετικά storylines. Μπορεί να είναι σαν το Akai Ito που η ταινία ήταν μια σύμπτυξη σκηνών της σειράς. Ό,τι και να ναι βέβαια καλό θα ναι!

Popular young actor Toma Ikuta (24) will star in a new movie directed by Genjiro Arato, the producer responsible for the award-winning "Zigeunerweisen" in 1980. The film is "Ningen Shikkaku," based on the Osamu Dazai novel of the same name. Also known in English as "No Longer Human," the book is generally considered to be Dazai's greatest masterpiece.

Ikuta has recently had major roles in several television series, but this role will actually be his first time appearing in a movie. Published in 1948, the semi-autobiographical "Ningen Shikkaku" was Dazai's last completed work before he successfully committed suicide. Despite selling millions of copies, the story has never been adapted to screen. However, this year is the 100th anniversary of Dazai's birth, prompting the decision to create a movie.

Filming starts in July, with a release projected for spring 2010.

^bias aside, φαινεται ενδιαφερον drama και θα το βλεπα ετσι κι αλλιως... well, προσωπικα μιλωντας, και πατατα να βγει (που χλωμο το κοβω, Kimutaku drama γαρ ) η παραγωγη μολις εξασφαλισε οτι θα δω τουλαχιστον 3 episodes before the drop

Seems like the news for the summer season are little by little coming in...

Hideaki Takizawa (27) has picked up his first starring role in a serial drama since 2005. He will share the screen with Ryo Nishikido (24) in a TBS series tentatively titled "Orthros no Inu," named after the two-headed dog from Greek mythology.

The thrilling human drama has Takizawa playing the role of a mysterious and ambitious man with a wicked heart, who possesses the power to heal pain and illness with the touch of his hand. Nishikido, on the other hand, plays a high school teacher with a gentle heart, but who has the ability to kill with his touch. The two happen to meet, resulting in a battle of good and evil.

Takizawa's last starring role in a series was in the 2005 NHK taiga drama "Yoshitsune." Before that, he played the lead in Fuji TV's "Boku Dake no Madonna."

TBS will broadcast "Orthros no Inu" on Friday nights at 10:00pm, starting in July.

Tran Anh Hung's screen adaptation of the Haruki Murakami bestseller "Norwegian Wood" now has a cast. Kenichi Matsuyama (24) has been chosen to play the lead as the college student Toru Watanabe, while Rinko Kikuchi (28 ) plays his emotionally troubled lover Naoko.

The story's heroine, a lively young woman named Midori, will be played by ViVi fashion model Kiko Mizuhara (18 ) in her very first acting role. "Norwegian Wood" follows Toru's relationships with these two very different women, as well as his dealing with the death of a friend.

The movie starts shooting next month, though the scheduled release isn't until autumn 2010.

Το Orthros no Inu πάντως ακούγεται πάρα πάρα πάρα πολύ ενδιαφέρον. Πιστεύω θα βγει καλό γιατί εμπιστεύομαι τις παραγωγές του TBS και ο Tackey με τον Ryo έχουν αποδείξει ότι είναι καλοί ηθοποιοί.
Χαίρομαι γιατί μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχω βρει κάποια σειρά απ' όσες έχουν ανακοινωθεί να με ενδιαφέρει αρκετά για να τη δω (καλό αυτό για να δω τίποτα παλιά παράλληλα).
