Έβλεπα το Hotel Transylvania, και κάποια στιγμή στο τέλος τραγουδάει λίγο η κόρη του Δράκουλα. Πρώτη μου αντίδραση μόλις την άκουσα, χωρίς ναξέρω ποιά έκανε τη φωνή της, ήταν να σχολιάσω "Αφού κοπέλα μου είσαι άφωνή, τι το θες το τραγούδι;" Μετά, στους τίτλους τέλους έμαθα πως τη φωνή της έκανε η Rebecca Black.

Μόνο που στο συγκεκριμένο τούρκικο σήριαλ δεν τη βίασε αλλά δεν κατάφερε να αποτρέψει τους φίλους του να το κάνουν και αυτή νομίζει ότι τη βίασε. Still fucked up αλλά όχι τόσο. Όπως για παράδειγμα στο "Σιλά" που όντως τη βίασε (άσχετο που ήταν παντρεμένοι) και μετά ερωτευτήκανε και δεν τρέχει τίποτα ξέρω γω.

Από κει και πέρα υπάρχουν δύο τρόποι να προσεγγίσεις το θέμα "ερωτική σχέση μεταξύ θύματος και θύτη". Η μία είναι να προβάλλεις τη διαστροφή αυτής της σχέσης, η οποία βρίσκεται μέσα στα όρια της ανθρώπινης συμπεριφοράς και η άλλη είναι να την ιδανικοποιήσεις και να την ρομαντικοποιήσεις όπως κάνουν τα παραπάνω σήριαλ. Αυτό έχει να κάνει με πολλά θέματα, όπως τη θέση της γυναίκας στην εκάστοτε κοινωνία, τη θέση της μέσα στο γάμο, παραδόσεις, έθιμα και αντιλήψεις βαθιά ριζωμένα στο συλλογικό υποσυνείδητο και διάφορα άλλα.

Όσον αφορά τον πολυπολιτισμό, είναι ένα πράγμα να σέβεσαι ανθρώπους που προέρχονται από διαφορετικούς πολιτισμούς και άλλο να αποδέχεσαι άκριτα οποιοδήποτε στοιχείο αυτού του πολιτισμού.

Καλό είναι πριν αρχίσουμε τα ουστ να έχουμε ξεκαθαρισμένα κάποια πράγματα μέσα στο κεφάλι μας.

Δε διαφωνώ ότι είναι απαράδεκτη αυτή η πλύση εγκεφάλου που κάνει στον κόσμο το κανάλι εδώ και εναμισι μήνα και το πώς εκμεταλλεύονται ένα edgy θέμα για να πιάσει νούμερα μια σειρά, αλλά αυτό δε σημαίνει ότι υπάρχει κάποιος λόγος να απαγορεύεται μια σειρά λόγω του περιεχομένου της σε ορισμένες σκηνές όταν προβαλλεται σε φυσιολογική ώρα (ε τώρα η επανάληψη στις 2 το μεσημέρι είναι άλλο ζήτημα) .
Το αν μια σειρά είναι καλή ή όχι δεν έχει σχέση με το αν έχει μέσα βιασμούς ή οτιδήποτε, οπότε είναι κρίμα να μη δίνεται σε μια πιθανώς καλή σειρά (υποθετικά μιλώντας, δε λέω για το συγκεκριμένο) η ευκαιρία να παρουσιάσει ένα "ασυνήθιστο" (όχι ότι τα μισά σίριαλ κάπου εκεί τρυγυρνάνε) θέμα με έναν έξυπνο τρόπο που δε δίνει εσφαλμένα μυνήματα.
Έτσι κι αλλιώς, το αν και το πώς και προσπαθεί να περάσει ένα μύνημα ένας καλλιτέχνης είναι δικό του θέμα και δικαίωμα, το πώς θα ληφθεί απο το δέκτη είναι και πάλι θέμα του δέκτη και του νοητικού του επιπέδου.
Αν το δούμε και σαν περιεχόμενο, όπως είπε και η mono υπάρχει παρανόηση στο θέμα, συν ότι δε φαίνεται η σειρά να προβάλλει θετικά το βιασμό, αντίθετα το παρουσιάζει αμέσως ως κάτι παράνομο και εντελώς κατακριτέο.
Απο εκεί και πέρα το σενάριο δεν είναι ούτε παράλογο. Δε μου φαίνεται καθόλου περίεργο να συμβεί κάτι τέτοιο (αν την βίαζε και ο ίδιος θα ήταν μάλλον ακόμα πιο πιθανό) δεδομένου του πώς μπορεί να δράσει η ανθρώπινη ψυχή σε μια δύσκολη και καταπιεσμένη κατάσταση. Είναι κάτι παρόμοιο εξάλλου με το stockholm syndrome, αν και στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση φαντάζομαι ότι θα τον ερωτευτεί για λόγους άσχετους με το βιασμό.
Το αν μια γυναίκα που έχει υποστεί το βιασμό προσβάλλεται από κάτι τέτοιο είναι επίσης δικό της θέμα, καθημερινά βλέπουμε ένα σωρό αισχρά και προσβλητικά για τον καθένα μας πράγματα να λέγονται και να προβάλλονται στα ΜΜΕ αλλά νομίζω ότι μπορούμε να το υποστούμε, και αν δεν μπορούμε, μπορούμε να αντιδράσουμε, όχι απαραίτητα κρυβόμενοι πίσω απο ένα κόμμα.

Alright, last night I had the most uncomfortable phone call of my life. This is a bit long so bear with me.

Preface: So I go to this university's open house a few months ago and meet this guy. He's very friendly (like, has his arm around me and stuff after we've only known each other 5 minutes friendly), we talk a bit, he asks me to give him my number and add him on facebook, and I don't see the harm in it so I do.

Fast forward a bit. This guy is texting me almost daily, telling me how much he loves our conversations, and getting upset when I don't text him for a week (seemed like a reasonable period to me to leave in between conversations with someone you've only met once, briefly). He's also a very involved and passionate catholic, his cover photo on Facebook is a banner that says "I am the pro-life generation", he's constantly posting these really cheesy and unclever catholic memes, and telling me he's always wanted to be a nun but he'd settle for becoming a brother (what??). He's also told me that he's had a rough past with a broken family and abusive father, which is kinda sad.

Then last night he sends me a picture of a brown bag with writing in multicoloured marker on it saying "Your face makes other people look ugly. And if I wrote a textbook, I'd write that down as a FACT.". Confused and a bit worried, I ask him where he found it. He says he made it. I ask who for, and he says his girlfriend. Okay, big relief. So naturally I ask him if he's got any plans for valentines day with his woman (winky face), he replies that he is "not a slut, dear friend (smiley face)". I'm like oh, right, premarital sex and mortal sin and whatnot, and ask him half-jokingly if second base is still allowed. Then he asks me to Skype him so he can explain the virtue of chastity to me. "Okay", I think to myself, "this should be interesting", so after I install skype and get my microphone driver working properly I log on and he rings me up. So he's on about purity and respecting women enough to not run their future possibility of nunhood or marriage by having sex with them or something along those lines, and I listen, and then we get talking about other aspects about catholicism and eventually the topic of confession is brought up.

So he's talking about confession and how he would go and tell the priest about his impure thoughts and how he masturbated and how horrible he felt about it and stuff like that, and then by some segue of converation he asks me whether I felt guilty after rubbing one out or not, to which I replied "no, not since like grade 7". I guess he was surprised by my answer and went on asking me about my masturbation habits and stuff like that, obviously trying to figure out if whatever he was doing was normal or not since he apparently had no clue, so I'm trying to reassure him like "yeah, guys do stuff with their buttholes all the time, it's not that weird" and answering other questions of that nature, feeling kinda sorry for the guy since he sounded pretty clueless about the normality of it all. From there he goes on to tell me that he once got a blowjob from a gay guy while drunk at a party and may or may not have returned the favour, and that once he got his junk rubbed through his pants by a guy he met. Uh, what?

So he keeps asking me to ask him about his masturbatory habits ("Isn't there anything you've ever wanted to ask whether it was normal or not but never had the chance?"), I say no and try and steer the conversation back to less uncomfortable pastures, asking him what his favourite all-time porn video is, to which he replied that he didn't have one but that he had a phase where he only watched gay porn for a month and that he's always been emotionally attracted to girls but physically attracted to men (why are you telling me this) and that this probably had something to do with his dad. I just sort of pause and don't say anything for a bit. Then he decides to change the subject. "What's your favourite part of your body?". Okay, I can make this not be weird. I tell him my metabolism because I can eat crap food and never work out and still look good. He tells me his legs, but just the lower part because the upper part is covered in scars from cutting. Whoa. Back up. So he tells me how he used to cut and that his scars got infected and he had to get it treated. I'm realizing this guy has some deep-seated issues and start to feel really sorry for him. So I ask about what's making him depressed and he's saying he finds his life is unfulfilling and that he sins all the time and that makes him feel like the worst person in the world even though he knows "Jesus will forgive him" and all that because he feels like he's sinned too much to be forgiven. I try and talk him through it, telling him to live for and find meaning through the people he loves and makes connections with and to try not to stare into the void for too long. I ask him what the lowest point he's ever hit in his life was and he tells me he tried to hang himself once but couldn't go through with it. Feeling really bad for him at this point, dude seems to have had a pretty rough go of it. He then says he doesn't want to talk about it any more and changes the subject back to porn. "What was your most memorable masturbation experience? Okay, what the fuck.

I try my best to explain to him that I don't really keep that stuff in memory and couldn't really remember any one experience in particular but he keeps pressing on so I decide tell him about this one video I saw ages ago that I remembered enjoying quite a bit (trying to keep things off the personal level as much as possible), a foursome video with Tori Black and Lexi Belle and some other chick (I just summarize the plot, refraining from going into detail). He tells me to load up the video so he can listen to it. This is getting weird. I tell him I can't play the video out loud because I'm listening to him via headphones and there are family members staying over in the house that I'd rather not wake with loud pornography. This is when he asks me to describe my ideal porn scene to him in detail.

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." I say, hoping deep down that some part of him will realize how awkward a request that is and take it back. He insisted. Seeing no other way to get out of the situation other than ending the call, blocking his number and never speaking to him again, which I wasn't prepared to do with a guy who just admitted to me minutes ago that he was suicidally depressed, I said okay and strung a narrative of a generic porn scene together for the guy. Silence. "I'll be honest with you, I'm rock-hard right now. Tell me another one." Fuck. At this point I feel it's relevant to say that we'll both be going into the same program at the same university so it would have been virtually impossible to end the call and cut all ties without resulting in colossal awkwardness for the entirety of next year. So once again I comply, generic plot, minimal detail, as little explicit sexual dialogue as possible. I can hear the guy breathing kinda heavy and wrap up the story as fast as I can. Another long silence. "If you were going to make a gay porno, how would it go. Tell me."

Shitshitshitshitshitshit is he trying to have phone sex with me?. Stunned by the request, I try talking my way out of this one, tell him that I've never watched gay porn and that I can't do what he's asking because I'm not really into the idea of man-sex. He tells me to just do it, that he wants me to describe it to him. At this point I just want it to be over with so I can go to bed and stop describing porn over Skype (this is at 4 in the morning, by the way). So I make up the absolute cheesiest plot I can think of, a guy going to a speciality banana store trying to buy an exotic banana and ending up having banana-themed sex with the banana salesman, ending it as quickly as possible because holy fuck is this weird. I was not prepared for what was next. He asks me to make up a porno involving the two of us, together.

Okay, this is too far. "What?!?!" I ask, totally stunned at the suggestion, "You mean... like... the two of us together or with a third party?". "Yeah, with a girl!" he says, "not just us two. that would be weird." (You've got to be kidding me.) So I make up some scenario about us splitting a girl between us at college and hope that'll be enough for him. Nope. I tell I'm done and I mention the time, hinting heavily that I'd like to be off to bed, and tell him if he wants I'll just send him the video I mentioned earlier. He says he wants me to play it and describe it to him over the phone, substituting myself in for the male actor. *sigh*. At this point there's no backing out. So I do it. And he asks if it's alright if he jacks off while I do so. I'm tired and just want to go to bed so after an awkward pause I tell him to go for it. It takes him a full half-hour to finish, after which I just told him straight up that it was 5 AM and I needed to go to sleep. He tells me he really enjoyed our chat and tells me he'll text me tomorrow. I'm not planning on replying.

TL;DR Ended up getting talked into describing porn to a suicidally depressive and possibly gay catholic guy over Skype so he could rub one out.

Oh, and he wants to be my room mate next year. Needless to say that's not happening.
